Ms Kitty’s Closet

Hello everyone, Kev here welcoming you to the sixth edition of the Oddmall Vendor Spotlight! This will be a recurring series to share with you all some of your local vendors and attendees of Oddmall shows, highlighting their incredible talents, wonderful personalities and amazing creations. 

Recently, I had the absolute pleasure to learn more about Kitty Blue and her business, Ms Kitty’s Closet! This small business specializes in faux fur accessories and clothing, bringing us the most fantastic and whimsical designs for nearly 20 years! We’ve been honored to have them attending various Oddmall events and I’m sure anyone who has attended can instantly recognize the beautiful patterns and color palette. Of course, as it is faux fur it comes with the added comfort that all products are animal cruelty free!

Kitty, the sole owner and seamstress of Ms Kitty’s Closet, began creating her patterns and quality products in the mid-noughties, with her Etsy shop opening shortly after in 2008. “It started out as a hobby for myself, just making cute fun accessories to wear with various costumes I created for parties and events,” Kitty explains, discussing her origin story. “I had several people ask me about the ears and tails I was wearing with my costumes and when I told them I made them myself, they were interested in buying some so I started making them for others.”

It was 2017 when Kitty was able to quit her desk job and turn Ms Kitty’s closet into her full time business. Since then, she has catered to a wide audience; from cosplayers, the furry community, Halloween shoppers and people of all ages who have a love of cute, furry couture! 

Kitty told me a bit about her process, and what I love is the fact that everything is done from scratch by herself; from the design process to the manufacturing and marketing, you can expect every piece will be made to the highest quality. Because of this, it also allows for shoppers to request custom orders if what they are looking for isn’t featured in her huge selection of created designs.

When discussing some of her favorite items, Kitty gives detail regarding her own personal item, The Tail of Many Colors. “It’s a striped tail that is created from 30+ colors that I had available sewn in the sequence of a rainbow of colors,” she details. “I use it as a fabric swatch of sorts at shows if I’m taking a custom order so that they can see all the colors available that I may not have at the show.”

To get a feel for some of the wild and exciting patterns that Kitty makes, I highly recommend checking out her Etsy in the link below as there are more than a hundred to choose from. While her top selling items are the variety of Cheshire Cat sets as well as the pride rainbow colors, my personal favorite (for obvious reasons) would have to be the Umbreon sets available, being the Pokemon nerd that I am. But make sure to browse and decide for yourself which design is your favorite!

While Kitty’s products are currently only sold at shows and online through Etsy (where she currently has a 5-star rating with over 8,000 sales!), expect to see Ms. Kitty’s Closet expand to other platforms in the future!
