Oddmall: Recent News Roundup – Important Stuff!

Hello Oddmall vendors and potential Oddmall vendors,

It’s your old pal Andy. Here is some important information about the upcoming Oddmall show in Akron. I’ll start with some bullet points in case you don’t feel like reading the whole thing:

  • There are still booths available for the May Oddmall show in Akron. This is our biggest and longest running show. If you are new to Oddmall it’s a great place to start and if you haven’t seen us in a while you might want to check it out. Oddmall has grown considerably over the years and we’d love to see you again. Nab a booth or six at http://www.oddmall.info/vendor-registration/
  • The deadline for ads in the onsite guide is Monday April 23. If we don’t have your ad by then it won’t make it in the guide. You can nab ads using the same registration form you use for everything else.
  • There is still a chance we might reach the goal for Friday vendor setup. We haven’t attained it yet, so keep spreading the word!
  • Don’t forget to RSVP for the USE YOUR NOODLE party at Spaghetti Warehouse. It’s Saturday May 5, after Oddmall.
  • An Oddmall Talent Show? Yep…
  • Everyone is invited to participate in the Memorial Day parade in Green, Ohio alongside your Oddmall friends.
  • Detailed setup information for vendors will be sent next week.

Oddmall booths are selling out quickly!

Although booths are rapidly selling out for Oddmall: Emporium of the Weird (May 5-6, 2018), there is still time to nab yours before they’re all gone. Not only that, booths are available for ALL SEVEN 2018 Oddmall shows (except Expedition Elsewhere, which already happened this year but for which booths are already on sale for 2019).

We also need to let the Knight Center know how many tables and electric hookups we’ll need. The deadline for that information is this Friday, April 20. You can reserve such things using the same registration form you use to nab booths.

Visit  https://www.oddmall.info/vendor-registration/ posthaste to get some of those sweet, sweet vendor booths.

Get Your Ads in As Soon as Possible!

At Oddmall our mission is to bring the people of Northeastern Ohio an exciting, accepting, and creative atmosphere in which to enjoy fine art, handmade crafts, and all things odd, unusual, geeky, and curious. Since the show is free to the public, our funding comes, in part, from individual and corporate sponsorships.

Oddmall provides many opportunities for sponsorships and partnerships. We offer a range of options to suit your needs and we are extremely grateful for any and all contributions and support. We have several exciting sponsorship packages prepared, as well as a number of special Prestige Sponsorships available. NOTE: DEADLINE FOR EMPORIUM OF THE WEIRD ADS IS APRIL 23 (and that’s cutting it close)

The Use Your Noodle Party

Oddmall isn’t just a big ol’ group of artists, crafters, geeks, and weirdos. We’re a family. And, like families everywhere we occasionally dig getting together with our brothers and sisters and moms and dads and uncles and such for a good old-fashioned new-fangled family reunion.

Of course, a busy show doesn’t afford us much time for making new friends and mingling with our fellow weirdos and erstwhile family members. That’s why we throw a Saturday night shindig at each show. It’s usually at a nearby restaurant, but we have a few secret lairs up our collective sleeves as well.

All Oddmall parties and dinners are open to Oddmall vendors and their guests. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. Some venues have maximum capacities, so RSVPs are appreciated. Of course, attendees are responsible for paying for their own food. I wish I could pay for everybody but as your surrogate Oddmall dad I have to remind you money doesn’t grow on trees.

Clean your room. Also, RSVP for the upcoming Use Your Noodle party at Spaghetti Warehouse.

Oddmall May or May Not Have Talent! What the goose is that?

Here’s a sweet new thing we’re trying out for the very first time at Oddmall: Emporium of the Weird! It’s a talent show. You know, where people come up on stage and show off their interesting human tricks and their various superpowers.

Who is invited to participate?

Everybody. Every single person on Earth is welcome to come up on stage and do their thang. Doesn’t matter how old, how tall, or how allergic to goats. There are no restrictions.

Are there any restrictions?

A few. First off, performers actually have to be present at Oddmall during the allotted time. No phoning it in. Second, no acts that feature racist, homophobic, misogynistic or otherwise evil overtones or undertones will be allowed on stage. Third, performers must supply any associated props, instruments, or similar devices needed for their act. We will have microphones and a sound system, but everything else is out of our hands. Fourth, for obvious reasons, forbidden are things that are illegal or overly dangerous (no open flame or live carnivorous monstrosities, please).

When and where?

The thing happens at about 3:30pm on Saturday May 5 (directly following the Oddmall Costume Contest). It will be on the main Oddmall stage, which is in the large rotunda directly to the left when you walk into the Knight Center. You can’t miss it even if you try. It’s right there in your face.

I may or may not have talent. How can I get involved?

If you want to participate all you have to do is show up at the spot at 3:30pm on Saturday May 5 (directly after the costume contest). Bring any props or instruments or whatever with you and find a seat in the audience. We’ll be calling for volunteers from the rabble to come up on stage. There is no need to preregister, but if you want to let us know what to expect please submit the form at http://www.oddmall.info/uncategorized/oddmall-may-or-may-not-have-talent-an-oddmall-talent-show/.

Is it free?

Yes. It is free.

Will there be prizes?

Of course there will be prizes. I don’t know what they’ll be yet, but there will indeed be prizes. Grand prize is THE PEOPLE’S OVATION AND FAME FOREVER and also probably something else.

I have questions.

Cool. Send Andy and email.

Walk with Oddmall in the Memorial Day Parade

Oddmall Oddballs are traipsing their way through the Memorial Day Parade in the city of Green, Ohio. Everyone is invited to participate. In particular we are looking for friends with interesting costumes (cosplayers, ghostbusters, furries, historical reenactors, clowns, etc…), creative or geeky vehicles (nifty cars, batmobiles, ECTO-1s, parade floats, hearses, etc…), cool bikes and stuff, stilt walkers, jugglers, people who want to pass out flyers and candy, etc…

We would love to have as many people participate as possible. Please come out and represent yourself, Oddmall (www.oddmall.info), and Oddmall Outpost: Assembly of Odd (www.oddmalloutpost.com)!

We’ll be meeting at Oddmall Outpost around 8:30 to assemble. The parade starts at 10am. There is a memorial ceremony directly after followed by a free community picnic and car show.

Although it’s not vital, we’d like to get a sense of who and what will be showing up. If you’re too busy or lazy to RSVP, it’s cool. If not, please use this form. There’s also a facebook event you can visit!

When will Vendor Setup Information be posted for Emporium of the Weird?

Next week. We’ll post it on the website and send one of these emails.
